Once of the most exciting things about decorating childrens’ rooms is that there are almost no limits. Adult living spaces, regardless of how trendy and charming they may aim to be, lack the sort of creativity and color that is the very essence of childhood. However, when it comes to decorating your child’s room (boy or girl), you can provide them the opportunity to allow their imagination to soar while you work to bring those concepts to life. Here are some helpful ideas for creating fantastical and fun kids rooms.
An alternative to crafting a wallpaper headboard is wallpapering the headboard itself! Trace the outline of your headboard of choice, cut the wallpaper to fit it perfectly, then cover the headboard in its new coat. Choose a whimsical wallpaper for a fun effect! This zigzag headboard has a similar effect as the wallpaper headboards above, but the supply of choice is fabric stiffened with starch. With the help of an iron and an eye-catching pattern, the results are crisp and clean!
Using two shades of the same color when painting a headboard is both unexpected and visually interesting. Below (left), the light green stencil paint makes a monochromatic statement against the pear green wall color. Featured on Simply Seleta, this project takes its inspiration from a Domino magazine image.
