It’s a house designed by ODOS Architects with cantilevers and bright spaces that open to the landscape and invite the outdoors in. Every project has its own set of challenges. In the case of this home in Chile, the challenge was to position it at the center of the plot and to give it the smallest possible footprint and a low height. Mobil Arquitectos came up with the idea to shape the house like a croissant and to give it large windows and glass walls so it feels open and connected to the exterior.

It looks as if it’s been on that slope all along and only recently carved into a home. It’s a great look managed by Wespi de Meuron Romeo Architects. Because it sits on a steep slope, the houses has the entrance on the top floor and the parking lot up on the roof level. Its raw concrete facades are minimalist and intriguing and the interior matches this look.

The views might be beautiful but they can’t always highlighted so before they bought this site in Särö, Sweden, the owners of this house wanted to make sure they could make the most of the location. The end result was just as envisioned: a beautiful house that opens to the views. It seems that everything is mirrored in the case of this residence designed by MU Architecture in Canada, everything except for the views that make each space feel like a natural part of the landscape, like an extension of the panorama that can be admired through the floor-to-ceiling windows on the ground floor.

They’re simple accessories which one can add even after the whole furniture is designed and installed. It can be part of a remodel. In the case of an under-cabinet wine glass rack, the module directly above it can be a series of open shelves or it can have a glass door. This space would serve as a wine rack for the bottles. It can also be used for other purposes. If the glass rack is part of the kitchen furniture from the beginning then it can be integrated into the cabinetry and placed at a higher level so the glasses perfectly align with the underside of the other cabinets forming a straight line.

A sink with an organic shape, simple but elegant lines and an overall stylish design would be a wonderful addition to a modern or traditional bathroom. Opt for a simple vanity with a design that follows the same lines to obtain a cohesive and charming decor.

Mirrored doors are a good idea if you’re restricted in terms of space – they’ll make the room seem much bigger. And resist the urge to add too many accessories to the room. If you take your time and pick out one or two statement pieces, this will have more impact than cluttering up your space with a number of items.

The design and finish go particularly well with the coastal décor but you can basically match this piece with all sorts of interiors. The steps to create something like this are pretty simple. First, get a Lack Ikea coffee table and assemble it. Then get some wood and cut the boards to size. Stain them with your favorite color. Carefully measure the boards and place them on top of the table so they sit evenly. You can leave some gaps between them if you like the look. Then nail down the boards and that’s pretty much it.

Below (left), the light green stencil paint makes a monochromatic statement against the pear green wall color. Featured on Simply Seleta, this project takes its inspiration from a Domino magazine image.

In the case of the bathroom, that accent can be the sink. Whether it stands out with its color, shape, texture or design, the sink can become the focal point of the bathroom without much effort. Sometimes the best way to make something stand out is to go back to the basics and use simple materials in a unique way. For example, this stone vessel sink has a very interesting design. Its natural, organic shape along with the use of natural stone as the main material make this sink a wonderful accent feature for any bathroom.
