Usually this space has a contemporary interior design. It’s a choice based on convenience and versatility. But there are numerous different variations for this style. Each designer has his or her own rules when transforming a space. Today we’re going to analyze the work of Ammie Kim, a talented interior design that prefers modern and elegant decors and who has been named one of the Great Women of the 21st century by the American Biographical Institute. As you can see, she prefers a combination of classical and modern elements.
Here you can see how an open floor plan deals with red accent walls. The color suits the space well especially in combination with all the beige. The dark accents are a nice way of highlighting certain areas and furniture pieces and there’s a really nice balance throughout. A slightly different option is to use red as an accent color for the walls without actually painting them entirely. For example, if you have a recessed nook in the room for reading you can have that portion painted red while the rest of the wall is a neutral and less striking color.
The first rule in arranging the furniture in a livingroom is to see where the wall plugs are and to avoid covering them with any furniture. If you do that it will only make things more complicated, as you will not have easy access to the outlet and you will have to use extendable ones and this way you increase the hazard risk. So avoid covering them. The second tip is to spread the furniture in an even manner all over the livingroom. Avoid placing all the furniture in one place, for example one one side of the room or near the same wall, as it will be totally asymmetric and it will give the viewer the impression of a “sinking ship”. You remember the “Titanic”.
If you want to give your room a lift with a delicately patterned floral wallpaper it is recommended to choose carefully the place for using it, to obtain the maximum effect. Accessories shouldn’t be forgotten. You can use delicate ceramic objects in a complementary shade. The main idea is to create the desired effect without being overpowering.
