This is a dune house located near Buenos Aires. It was built by Luciano Kruk Arquitectos and it’s a concrete structure designed to be enjoyed during summer. The site on which it stand has an uneven surface, sloping towards a pine forest. The house follows the natural topography of the land and becomes partially embedded into the slope. This helps it better communicate and blend in with its surroundings and the sand dune which it traverses.
The monochromatic palette of concrete, brick and neutral color tones is intentionally kept simple. Architect Guido Costantino wanted this two-storey modern residence in Ontario to be complemented by the views of its surroundings which become an important part of the interior designs thanks to the glazed walls. House Holman is an award-winning project by Durbach Block Architects. It’s a single-family home that stands on the edge of a cliff in Dover Heights, west of Sydney. The views of the ocean are breathtaking and they can be fully enjoyed from inside the house thanks to the full-height windows.
Dualchas Architects definitely made the most of the views when they designed this house in the UK. It stands on a site that overlooks Loch Dunvegan and it has floor-to-ceiling windows in every room, including the bathroom. Every window captures a different part of the view and together they frame the whole panorama beautifully. The view is definitely important but so is having a comfortable place from where to enjoy it. Architect Olga Freiman designed this beautiful retreat in Moscow, Russia and made sure to have a cozy lounge area facing the panorama framed by the full-height glass wall.
The house is wonderfully uncomplicated. It has this very simple and appealing look and a well organized structure, with each of the three floors serving a specific function. The ground floor is a guest area, with an entrance lobby and other welcoming spaces. The first floor is where the main bedroom suite is situated and that leaves the second floor which houses the living, dining and kitchen area. On top of it all there’s also a roof garden and a glazed hatch that lets one access it.
